Northern Bald Ibis Conservation

The Project “Waldrappteam” was initated by behvioural biologist Johannes Fritz. Since 2002 Fritz and his passionate team are enganged to reintroduce the very charismatic species and one of the most endangered bird in the world called Nothern Bald Ibis. Unfortunately due to excessive hunting in the medival and during the 30 years war the migratory bird became extinct. Just a few sedentary populations primarily in Marokko survived. With the efforts of “Waldrappteam” this wonderful creature gets a second chance by following microlite aircrafts in the south to their winter territory (Italy, Orbetello).
